i’m off

7 Jun

So the time has come. After months of talking about it and planning, I am actually leaving on this adventure/spiritual journey/road trip tomorrow morning. Um… wow. For how much time I had to prepare, one would think that I could just sit back and relax tonight with everything packed and ready to go, but that just doesn’t seem to be the case. I’ve been scrambling around all night – packing for two months is a bit more challenging than I originally thought. But here I am, at roughly midnight the night before I leave, and it looks like I have pretty much everything packed and ready to go. It all still seems a bit surreal that I am actually going. I am really excited, but it hasn’t truly set in and I don’t think it will until I’m driving 11 hours from New Mexico to Oklahoma in 100 plus degree heat :)

I would write more, but I am exhausted and need a decent night’s sleep before hitting the road. I’ll write again over the next few days. As I go, prayers would be great… for protection, safety, an open heart and mind and no rain for the next four days (we will be in a tent and that’s already a stretch for me :).

And because I love quotes, I’ll end with a quote again… one which I think is quite perfect for the journey I am about to embark on.

“Arrival is less important than the journey. This is because, if the journey is a walk with the Yahweh-man, there is an important sense in which you have arrived already. Yes, intimacy develops, but do you ever say of a relationship, “I’ve arrived”? Along the road there may be moments of epiphany, but if not, that’s fine. Ecstasy isn’t of the essence of relationship. But expect things to happen. Your incremental shuffle along the road is an incremental edging forward of kingdom borders – it’s a restoration of broken things and a making of new things.” ~ Charles Foster

Okay, so this is actually an excerpt from a book that I’m reading called The Sacred Journey – coincidence? Nope.
